When I was a child, I was very imaginative. I loved playing with my imagination, creating fantasy scenarios filled with mystical creatures and superpowers. Even on the playground at school, I preferred being stuck in my imagination most days. Fantasies create a wonderful feeling inside. A feeling that makes you feel warm and cozy, the type of feeling that brings a certain comforting solace. That’s why we hold on to them as kids. Fantasies aren’t just for kids of course. You have your average adult who likes to partake in roleplaying events, there are the great folks who we call Disney adults, but then there is a dangerous group of people. One’s who fantasies go a bit too far. Those would be our great friends on the left who are known as liberals. You see, Liberals live in a different type of fantasy than the regular Joe would be accustomed to. With Liberals, their progressive fantasy of what America could be doesn’t involve superpowers or princesses, or castles. No, no, that’s silly. It involves Sterilization drugs for minors, open borders, the demise of private health insurance, a weak economy, radical abortion laws, and DEI coming at you like a fire-breathing dragon.
I am someone who loves a good comeback story and strongly encourages reinvention. I had hoped that the warm and charming democratic presidential nominee Ms. Kamala Harris would find herself in a re-inventive phase as she balances her role as the current Vice President while creating her mold away from President Biden. Though Mr. Trump has my full support in the 2024 election, I still would have loved to see my friends on the left have a fair shot with a candidate they could truly get behind and not merely accept out of happenstance. Ms. Harris had all the ability to reinvent herself in the public eye and attempt to defend her extremely questionable political record. She could have done this by talking to the press directly to answer those hard questions a lot of Americans want answers to, to fully get behind her. Yet that isn’t the reality, as Ms. Harris seems to be avoiding the press like the bubonic plague. Ms. harris proved she wasn’t really concerned with reinvention with the choice of her Vice presidential candidate. Skipping over the popular choice of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, proved that Ms. Harris bent to the will of the Pro Palestinian wing of her party. Although Governor Shapiro is pro-Israel, he is also critical of Mr. Netanyahu and his handling of the war. It seems that Shapiro would have added a good balance to the democratic ticket, but Ms. Harris didn’t seem to think so. She instead decided to fuel her progressive liberal fantasy by putting by her side someone who has created one of his own in Minnesota.
Like Ms. Harris herself, Mr. Walz is fairly unknown. While aiming to paint himself a nice midwestern centrist, Mr. Walz's record proves otherwise. Though one may say Mr. Walz was a moderate for the majority of his career, Walz has definitely had a sip of the the progressive punch. As likable as he may look, There’s some trouble with Tim.
One of Walz’s first acts as Gov. of Minnesota was to push DEI agenda on his state by creating the Once Minnesota Council On Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. DEI is already a hot-button issue in the political sphere, as it continues to plague our government, companies, and education system. It’s a flawed ideology that furthers racial divisions in America, preventing us from reaching a true place of peace among the races. After the disastrous and poorly handled Black Lives Matter riots that erupted in the wake of the death of George Floyd, Mr. Walz made himself clear on his support of DEI principles. After the burning of a police station during the riots, Mr. Walz proceeded to blame it on the lack of DEI principles in the country, stating “A society that does not put equity and inclusion first will come to this result.” In addition to his DEI measures, Mr. Walz really put Minnesota in the center of a progressive fantasy when he declared Minnesota as a sanctuary for child sex-changes while aiding in abetting in breaking up families over such issues.
Tim Walz signed a bill in April 2023 that made his state a sanctuary for child sex-changes, promoting tourism for such radical medical interventions in defiance of states that restrict them. … Dubbed the Trans Refuge Bill by supporters, the law grants legal protection to children who travel to Minnesota for so-called gender affirming care, including puberty blockers, reconstructive genital surgery, and hormone therapy, as well as the medical practitioners who provide it. … The law makes seeking gender-transition procedures for minors a factor in some assessments for whether a Minnesota court has jurisdiction to make an initial determination in child-custody cases.
Mr. Walz clearly has an extremely progressive political outlook. One that matches Ms. Harris, Which I don’t think is a good thing both for the country nor her campaign. With Ms. Harris having a strong pro-choice stance on abortion and her VP being a man who has made clear his support of (what I would describe as) the mutilation of minors, this ticket is quite literally fantastical.
While there are many troubles one may have with Mr. Walz, let’s not forget the trouble with this ticket’s entire inception. Ms. Harris rose to the top of the Democratic ticket simply with an endorsement from President Biden. There was no vote, and no say from the people. The people who really didn’t like her as Vice President and who didn’t even think she had a chance at being the presidential nominee when the whispers started of Mr. Biden dropping out. My democrat friends not only were forced to accept a nominee they had no say in picking, but they now have to accept her running mate who echoes, rather loudly, the type of progressive policies they wish to implement and the culture they wish to cultivate. It simply isn’t right.
While the Harris-Walz ticket may have a good look going for itself, the substance of it seems to be lacking. With weak policies and an obvious attempt to avoid the press, what else are folks really to go on? They are forced to look at the fantasy that is created through the media and just go with it due to the constant demonization of Mr. Trump through the same media. It’s clear that Harris and Walz are talking the talk, but based on the record, we know Mr. Trump can walk the walk and put everyday Americans first and not cater to the minority while seemingly ignoring all who don’t fit. Best of Luck to Ms. Harris and Mr Walz as they seek to fulfill a fantasy that may not have a happy ending to.
Awesome article. This is a very good opinion style piece, you definitely have mastered the form and this will measure up to a Wall Street Journal op-ed any day. Keep it up!
I agree that both sides have had to resort to fantasies to win voters, and it’s sad. The question now becomes which fantasy is the best for the country—and I think we both know the answer to that. Regardless of what you think of Trump, he’s not trying to nationalize abhorrent policies. He has the self-awareness, unlike Kamala, to leave abortion to the states.
